The Kentucky Derby is still a good two months away but blogs are all a twitter with the contenders and their rankings...as someone who grew up riding (and falling off) horses as well having a huge appreciation for the over the top hats I love the Derby! and I love that so far this year Uncle Mo is leading the pack- I love horse names almost as much as I love paint color names! Uncle Mo doesn't just come from any old stable either...he is owned by Mike Repole who made his fortune when he sold his brainchild SmartWater and VitaminWater to Coca-Cola for an estimated 4.1 billion dollars- yes billion! See- now you have a nugget of conversation for the mid-week cocktail hour!
Come May 7th Uncle Mo's jockey, John Velazques will be rocking the ever classic color combination of Yellow and Blue. Yellow- the color of sunshine is optimistic and upbeat and is beautifully balanced by Blue- the color of water that is calming with a sense of reserved elegance. It is pretty hard for yellow and blue to stumble and fall flat so here's hoping they serve Uncle Mo as well as they do for interiors...
