I hate CFL's...

It is no secret that I don't really like them- some say they are dimmable and they really aren't, they tend to flicker, they typically have bad coloring, they have to warm up to full brightness, they need to be recycled but few people actually know that and those little piggy tails are just plain ugly.
Until now... the 2011 winner of the BRIT Insurance design of the year went to a CFL manufacturer! But rest assured Plumen is no piggy tail!
The graceful curves of this 11 watt beauty put off a lovely warm white glow that is not nearly as offensive as most fluorescents.

Much like decorative filament bulbs these don't need to be hidden because they are so beautiful- the light becomes art almost.
London based designer Samuel Wilkinson has created a gorgeous collection of glass pendants through Decode to help highlight the flowing lines of these beauties

And I love the detailing of the cross cut angle for the perfect surprise- as if the fact that it hold a CFL isn't a big enough surprise

Only problem...they aren't available for the US yet! very sad about this- but frankly I have been sitting on the idea of a Plumen blog post since they came out last September! But alas it is time because they are in production and should be available for US sale at the end of April!

can't believe I am this excited about a compact fluorescent- there is a first time for everything!

I'm slacking...

I just realized I haven't written anything in a very long time...it is not for lack of inspiration- quite the opposite in fact. I have been very inspired, spring seems to finally have arrived- the cherry blossoms have been out of control gorgeous here
see- I told you so
I have had my hands super full with my precious nephew, while my sister and brother -in-law took a well deserved retreat for a few days. So I have powered through the last two weeks surviving on my very favorite things....Easter candy! with the sugar taking control of my blood stream it have become increasingly difficult to sit down and actually do anything- well that and the amazing warm weather that beckons me outside- but I do have a killer long list of inspirational ideas...
so one more nap and then new blog posts...

Inspiration comes in all forms...

Inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes and comes when you least expect it and usually from the strangest places. This year for Lent (yes I am mildly religious) I had a hard time figuring out what to give up so I gave up worrying about my future- until Easter I am going to just focus on the day at hand and find joy and inspiration in the present... that being said, I treated myself to a prize to help remind me- because even after Lent is over it is something I should do more of... So I had the lovely Erin McDermott make me a necklace to wear as an everyday reminder to: "Be Inspired"...those of you not familiar should check her out...her lovely wares can be found here her jewelry is simple and elegant and she is totally amenable to custom work- plus she is just an all around nice person!

So while I am working on finding inspiration in the everyday things I can't help but wonder if the owner of this home was a bit inspired by ABC's hit show LOST or perhaps Disney's Madagascar....

Oh yes that's a Boeing 727 that owner bought for a reported $2,000! Probably couldn't have afforded much more after buying the land with those killer views!
