Dance your troubles away...

The color of the year for 2011 was Honeysuckle, a lovely pink shade that lead me to deem 2011 the Year of Me! Pantone described Honeysuckle as a color that " encouraged us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor." Well it really worked out well for me and 2011 has brought many changes in my life, so I was a bit sad that  Honeysuckle was on its was out.

Lately I have been feeling a bit torn, especially about this blog- I love it, it has been my constant creative outlet for awhile now, but these days I feel like I have a few too many balls in the air and not enough time or brain power to formulate a post that I felt good about. Then this morning I logged on to see the announcement of the 2012 color of the year and I instantly knew what to do!

2012 is the year of Tangerine Tango (Pantone 17-1463)
"Tangerine Tango , a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward"
It's not an entire surprise or that far out of left field as Tangerine Tango was named one of the top colors in the Spring Fashion trend report
But regardless, it is good pick! Orange has been gaining ground in all fields of fashion from cosmetics to home decor and every little bit in-between The executive director of Pantone says it best when she describes it:" Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and the adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy."

So 2012, here we come! and channeling the spirit of Tangerine Tango I am going to recharge and move forward...over the next few weeks I plan to change up the format of this blog, so that Therapy by Charlotte can continue to be a source of inspiration and a creative outlet that works for me and my schedule.

No pressure Tangerine Tango, but 2011 was pretty awesome- you have some big pink shoes to fill, but I feel good and think we may be able to work together and make 2012 the Year of Me part deux!

To all of you who read my post and overlook my misspellings and poor grammar I say a huge Thank you! I'm not going anywhere, just having a makeover- I hope you will still check in and see what is inspiring me
Stay tuned
xoxo

Today is Your Day!!!

Welcome to the world my sweet niece Lyla! today is your day!!!

July 19th: Tangerine (Pantone 15-1247)
Inquisitive
Talented
Independent

Being born today: you are constantly learning and exploring life and all its wonders. Whether you are an artist or an analyst, you delve deep into whatever it is that captures your interest. Although you are social and need to interact with others, you have a very strong autonomous side.

How Tangerine will benefit you:  Your personal color helps you integrate the outgoing with the introverted side of your nature. Wearing and surrounding yourself with the color tangerine increases clarity and receptivity.

It works wonderfully with your Mom's least favorite color (but your auntie's favorite)...Pink!

and thankfully, because you will no doubt grow up to be a huge Tar Heel fan like the rest of the family...
it pairs perfectly with light blue!

Welcome to the world Sweet Baby Lyla!
I can't wait to meet you!
xoxo

If a boy and girl walk off into the sunset...

"If a boy and girl walk off into the sunset hand-in-hand in the last scene, it adds 10 million to the box office."
-George Lucas

Maybe so and most likely because who can resist a good sunset... that single moment in the day when the sky is on fire- for just a minute or two that you can so easily miss if you don't slow down... Today's color is just that- that electric fiery orange of sunset.
 Cadmium Orange (Pantone 15-1340)
Romantic
Desirable
Dramatic

Cadmium Orange encourages a healthy and flexible outlook on life...it helps you move forward with vision and freedom.

Who couldn't use a little help moving forward and having a healthy outlook? so add a little (or a lot) of Cadmium Orange into your life.

for me nothing says Romantic Desirable and Dramatic more than if I walked in to find:
Aghhh- Heaven! Hermes orange falls squarely in the Cadmium Orange family!

And for all you UVA fans out there- you finally have a good excuse to wear those crazy pants...

Happy last day of June!

Summer is kind of like the ultimate one-night stand...

"Summer is kind of like the ultimate one-stand stand: hot as hell, totally thrilling and gone before you know it."
-Cosmopolitan

Happy first day of summer!!!! not a particularly glamorous one here- rather gray and soggy, but oh well it could be sweltering and frankly we need the rain.

Today's color is particularly fitting shade of orange: Chamois (Pantone 15-1145)
And while it reminds me of a big full mum or the sun at high noon, it is tagged as: Passionate, Warm and Moneymaker... passionate and warm are perfect for the first day of summer...moneymaker??? I venture to say people work less, thus make less in the summer time- but I have been wrong a time or two.
The perfect bold accent to aqua!

It can be subtle and sophisticated

or bold and contemporary

Wearing and surrounding yourself with Chamois (the color, not the rag for washing your car) resonates with confidence and courage and helps you share your gifts and talents with others.

So happy first day of summer/wear your Lilly day!
Aghhh- there's the moneymaker part! at least for Lilly!

turn up the heat...

So it seems my little nephew is going to make a late entrance into the world... according to old wives tales it seems that my sister needs to turn up the heat a bit in her cooking to coax the little guy out...
So in a show of support I am going a little spicy too!

I love the fiery colors colors often found in the decors of the Moroccan, Spanish and Mexican interiors. The layers of texture in the fabrics, walls, floors and furnishing make these sumptuous rooms so inviting.

And why not spice up your cooking with some spicy cookware...
And if your home isn't the best match for a spicy interior you can certainly find some room in your closet!
So little guy... come on now!! You have a whole big world waiting to meet you!
